How Educational Assistance Works
The HBCU Success Trust Educational Assistance Program is designed to remove financial barriers that prevent students from earning their college degree.
Students are encouraged to first pursue all available sources of educational funding, including:
- Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA)
- State Financial Aid Programs
- Institutional Scholarships
- Grants
- External Scholarships
After available aid has been determined, the HBCU Success Trust may provide educational assistance to cover eligible remaining educational expenses, subject to program eligibility, funding availability, and Trust policies.
Educational Assistance Governance
The HBCU Success Trust Educational Assistance Program operates independently from the National Ambassador Program.
National Ambassadors and Campus Leaders may identify, mentor, recommend, and assist students seeking educational assistance.
National Ambassadors and Campus Leaders shall have no authority to approve, deny, guarantee, promise, or commit Trust funding.
All educational assistance decisions shall be made through the Trust's Educational Assistance Review Process.
How Students Apply
Students may seek educational assistance through any of the following methods:
- Through a Campus Leadership Team Member
- Through their assigned National Ambassador
- Directly through HBCU Success Trust
National Ambassadors may recommend and mentor students but do not approve educational assistance awards.
Eligible Expenses
Educational assistance may be applied to eligible costs such as:
- Tuition
- Room and board
- Required books and course materials
- University fees
- Other documented educational expenses approved by the Trust
Final eligibility, award amounts, and disbursement are determined by the Trust's Educational Assistance Review Process.
